Warm weather? Tips to keep your dog cool!
It ' s summer and the temperature can get quite a lot on some days. For your dog, this can sometimes be too hot! Here you will find some nice tips to make your dog as comfortable as possible during the warm summer days.

Ensure adequate cool water

Take care during the hot summer days for sufficient and cool drinking.
Place the drinking bowl in a strategic place: as in the shade, under a shelter, possibly an interior room where the dog has access to all the time.
If you are a whole house, you can always supply the drinking bowl with ice blocks/ice. For example, the water stays cool all day.
If you were to go hiking with your dog with the warm weather, then always see a portable drinking bus.
Just try to go for a walk on the coolest moments of the day.
Ensure adequate shadow
Take care of sufficient shade. If this is not the case, you can always shade by placing a sunscreen or parasol, or by binding cloths together.

You can also place a cooling mat in the place where your dog is often going to lie. Dogs can't sweat, don't they? They cool down through their paws and through their feet. This allows dogs to overheat in hot weather. The cooling mat makes sure that your dog can cool off during hot summer days. This cooling mat is filled with a safe and self-cooling gel that is activated when your dog is lying on the mat. If your dog does not use him for a few minutes then the gel restores itself automatically and cools it down again. Would you like to buy a cooling mat for your dog too? Click here
Get your dog with deep-frozen snacks!
You can easily make yourself some deep-frozen snacks for your dog. You take some cookies that your dog likes to eat and put it in a plastic bowl with water. This is what you put in the freezer. When it is in the daytime rather warm weather, you can get the frozen snack out of the bowl. This freezer snack allows you to cool off and keep your dog busy during these warm days.
There are plenty of recipes available on the internet to make different frozen snacks from frozen fruit to healthy dog ice.
Let your dog go to cool search in the water:
In warm weather, it is wonderful to visit a beach or swimming lake. Always look after dogs are allowed and whether or not they are allowed to loosened. Especially beaches in the summer months often limit access for dogs. If you take your dog, make sure you can create shade, for example, with a parasol or a beach tent. Also take a beach sheet with it, so that your dog does not have to lie on the hot sand.

Swimming is a great (and often fun) way for your dog to cool off, but beware! While swimming, especially with a ball, dogs often swallow plenty of water without realizing it. Even in fresh water, this may lead to problems, but you have to be especially careful when your dog is swimming in the sea. Dogs can develop severe gastrointestinal problems. This is why it is important to bring enough water for your pet to be given low water!
If you are not at all able to go to the sea or a swimming lake, you can always use a dog pool. Because of this, your dog can always freshen up in water. Would you like to buy a dog pool? Click here
Never leave your dog in the car!
Unfortunately, it is still necessary to make people aware of this risk. Every year there are reports that dogs are rescued from cars at the last minute. People underestimate how quickly the temperature can rise in a (closed) car. It doesn't have to be very hot to raise the temperature in a car to a dangerous level in a short time. When it's 24 degrees outside, the temperature in your car will rise to 34 degrees within 10 minutes and to 43 degrees within half an hour. Even if you leave a window open or park in the shade, the temperature can still rise and have dramatic consequences! Just walking into a store can have fatal consequences. So don't leave your dog in your car!
Limit physical exertion:
In tropical temperatures, people are often advised to limit their exercise, such as exercise. The same goes for dogs. Do not let your dog run next to your bike in hot weather and do not take too long walks. If you still like to go for a walk, try not to plan the walk at the hottest time of the day but rather in the morning or evening when it is cooler. Don't encourage any effort either, so leave the ball at home and don't pick up that stick.
What if your dog does overhit?
Overheating in dogs can be recognized by the following symptoms: heavy panting, lethargy, feeling warm, losing consciousness. Sometimes your dog can vomit and drool excessively.
Then take your dog to a shady spot as soon as possible and cool the dog by wetting it and putting wet towels over his belly, because the coat is very thin. If possible, let the dog swim or lie in the water. It is important not to let your dog cool down too quickly, but to get used to the cold water. Give your dog small amounts of lukewarm water to drink and contact your vet as soon as possible!
